Ready, Set, Type...

This year one of our Technology Goals is to strengthen keyboarding skills in grades k-5. 

The primary focus will be "Typing Efficiency;" developing speed and accuracy. I have set learning targets for each grade, and will dedicate 5 minutes of every class session to work with your child in the Tech. Lab. 

Each week, your child will have the opportunity to develop their keyboarding skills by using a variety of resources such as,"Dance Mat Typing."  This online resource is perfect for every learning style; it is fun, animated, exciting, and totally engaging.  Your child will also receive worksheets and other activities that they must complete at home.

What is ClassDojo?

ClassDojo is a classroom tool that helps teachers improve behavior in their classrooms quickly and easily. It also captures and generates data on behavior, attendance, and projects/assignments that teachers can share with parents and administrators 24 hours a day. Welcome back to another exciting school year! My name is Mrs. Brown and I will be your child’s Technology Teacher.

This year, your child will be exposed to a variety of technology devices, software programs, and applications that will allow him/her to express his/her creative and academic abilities.

Getting to know our new K-5 Digital Literacy and Citizenship Curriculum
Children today are using the immense power of digital media to explore, connect, create, and learn in ways never before imagined. 
Common Sense Media’s, our new Digital Literacy and Citizenship Curriculum, empowers students to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in our digital world.  These 21st-century skills are essential for students to harness the full potential of technology for learning. 

K-5 Digital Literacy and Citizenship Curriculum:
  • Offers a comprehensive yet balanced approach in addressing safety and security concerns, including ethics and behavior issues, as well as digital literacy skills.
  • Includes research-based lessons
  •  Provides student-centered, media-rich lessons materials that emphasize skill building, critical thinking, ethical discussion media creation, and decision making to students of all ages
  •  Addresses the whole community by providing materials to educate parents and families about digital citizenship 
  • Aligns to the Common core State Standards and the International Society for Technology in Education’s National Education Technology Standards (ISTE’s NET-S)



All lessons and activities are designed with age appropriate materials in mind such as student handouts, assessments, educational videos, and family tip sheets.

Each unit is grade appropriate and comprised of five lessons, which spiral to address a cross-curricular approach.  The units build on each other by reinforcing developmentally appropriate topics.
